Mārīte Šīrava assists clients in obtaining, defending and enforcing their intellectual property rights in Germany, Europe and worldwide. She also conducts patent oppositions and litigation challenging infringements of said rights. As a patent attorney, Mārīte deals with all aspects of patent practice, including drafting and filing of applications and conducting nullity, appeal, opposition and utility model cancellation proceedings. One of her achievements was, for example, securing a landmark decision of the Federal Supreme Court for her client. Mārīte also prepares expert opinions on validity and infringement.

Mārīte has been working in the field of intellectual property since 2005, and, as a qualified computer scientist, is a specialist in the area of software-implemented inventions. Her technical focus lies the fields of software (algorithms, data processing and representation, databases, image and language processing, artificial intelligence, expert systems, operating systems with process and hardware management and control, applications and user interfaces), communication technology (including standards-related topics), medical technology, bioinformatics, automation and control technology, hardware and automotive industries.
