With effect from 1 July 2022, Maiwald Patentanwalts- und Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH, one of Germany’s leading law firms in the field of intellectual property protection, has promoted two high-profile staff members of its legal department, Dr. Gisela Grabow und Tobias Matschke.
Dr Gisela Grabow from Maiwald’s Düsseldorf office has been appointed Counsel.
She focuses on advise in the pharmaceutical, biotech, food, medical device, and automotive sectors, with an international dimension covering transnational, regulatory and EU-related subject-matters. Gisela has more than ten years of experience, especially in contract negotiations. In recent years, she attracted new clients for Maiwald in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, food and technology sectors.
During her law studies at universities in Germany, England and during her doctorate, Gisela specialised in international and European business law, including intellectual property law, as well as international and European dispute resolution law. She then worked as a trainee lawyer in Germany and London and later temporarily in the USA and as a legal advisor for an international organisation.
“When negotiating transactions, Gisela can draw on her in-depth knowledge of the requirements of EU regulatory law and EU law generally. Her interactions with Brussels and with various EU member states provides her with unique insight into legislative requirements and their consequences at an early stage. Her accumulated knowledge and experience enable her to recognize risks in contracts and to identify opportunities. We wish her all the best for her future work” says Dr Marco Stief, head of Maiwald’s legal department.
Tobias Matschke from Maiwald’s Munich office has been promoted to Principal.
Attorney-at-law Tobias Matschke advises our national and international clients, mainly in the area of technical intellectual property rights. In addition to conducting transnational patent litigation and drafting of IP contracts, another very important aspect of his work relates to matters concerning the law on employee inventions. “In advising and representing clients Tobias at all times demonstrates outstanding commitment and brilliant legal and technical grasp of the issues”, says Dr Marco Stief, head of Maiwald’s legal department.
Tobias Matschke studied law at the University of Augsburg and has been working as a lawyer at Maiwald’s Munich office for six years. He gives regular talks on intellectual property issues and is a lecturer at the Technical University of Dresden.
